Te Hiringa Business Promotions Ltd was established to provide a business to business trade show forum for Maori Business owners to showcase products and services.  The first trade show was held on the 6th February 2009 as part of the Waitangi Day commemorations program held in Waitangi.  Maori business owners from Taitokerau, Auckland, Waikato, Whakatane, Gisborne, Wellington and Te Waipounamu exhibited and workshops, film and audio screenings on Maori success ran alongside the trade show on site. The 2nd tradeshow was held on the 5 February 2011 at the Waitaha Conference Centre Waitangi and the third held in Whangarei at Forum North in 2013.

 

From 2015 to 2017, Trade Expo business to business events were replaced by the Matariki Taitokerau workshops – Future Makers and in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 the Trust hosted and showcased its signature event the Taitokerau Maori Business Awards.

 

The Trust has operated since its inception on the goodwill and commitment of its Trustees providing voluntary time and expertise.  We acknowledge founding members Trustee Chair April Erueti, Trustees Leon Penney, Solomon Tipene, Steve Bennett, Te Warihi Hetaraka and Vonese Walker, Trustees Jamin Tahere, Billy Mulcare and Maryanne Carman and current Trustee Chair Steve Bennett, Trustees Missy Armstrong, Walter Wells and Solomon Dalton.

 

The array of valuable networking events at the Taitokerau Maori Business Awards and the Matariki – Future Makers Events which alternate biennially draws in crowds from around the rohe each year. In addition Te Hiringa is proud to support local initiatives like InnoNative Week and other collaborations which promote business excellence and growth as well as key outcomes for Māori such as employment, health, culture and identity.
